Without letting ourselves get too excited, who is starting to allow themselves to dream of days where you pack a lunch the night before, get up and out first thing in the morning to spend our days with friends? Parks, beaches, gardens. Sun cream, sandwiches and smiles.
All the little things that we knew were good before, but we never quite realised that it would be those simple memories we clung to most when we were cut off from making more.
As the days are staying later longer and the blue skies starting to make the odd appearance (although as I write this, I can hear the wind howling outside!) I am trying to focus on the fact that there is normal on the horizon and hopefully some sunshine too.
PJs are out
For who knows how long now, as I stopped counting for my own sanity, everyone including the children have been in ‘cosy clothes’. Joggers, pj’s, fancy dress you name it, now it is coming round to wearing acceptable clothing again nothing fits them anymore which is particularly rude!
However, it is a great excuse to go wild in the online aisles to grab some new bits and pieces and there are some lush bits to choose from… if only I could squeeze into an age 6-7, I would be laughing.
As easy as it is to get carried away, a few staple bits that will see you from spring into summer are perfect. I have tried to pull together a few options that I just loved from the high-street to cover all bases.
It kills my ovaries that I don’t have a little summer babe to dress anymore, there is some delicious threads out there for your smallest crew members!
My heart absolutely breaks for a linen dungaree in natural off white. These are great as they can be layered with a top underneath or on their own for a boho ‘earth babe’ feel. These are my fave and are £17.99. Sizes newborn to 4years old.
I love a spotted number and this little 3-piece dotty darling is perfect as it covers the changing weather. With a little hat (with cute ears for good measure) then you can have the long sleeve bodysuit with or without the leggings. Great for both boys and girls too. This set is a flippin’ steal at £7.99. Sizes 2- 9 months.
Something else I fell head over heels for this year is the cutest of little, long sleeve UV safe swimming suits for boys and girls in the most gorgeous neutral tones. This rust coloured long sleeve with a little short, they are UPF 50 and completely adorable. £17.99. Sizes 4months – 4years.
A lush ditsy blue floral sun safe long sleeve top, with a 2 pack of flounce frill bottoms, one in matching print and also one pink too. The top is £8.99 and 2months-4years and the twin pack of bottoms is also £8.99 and 2months-4years.
I’m not a baby
I am a lover of a little matching set mainly because it requires no effort and still looks ‘put together’. I love this long sleeve and shorts set in ‘old rose’ textured sweat set. It is perfect with trainers and sandals. It’s £12.99 for the set and sizes 18 months- 10yrs.
Hard to find a boy set that isn’t covered in trains or lions, so this block blue shorts and hooded set is great, its fresh and no fuss. £17.99 for the set, sizes 18 months – 10 years.
An easy to grab and go jacket is great for the changing seasons and the detachable hood on this khaki jacket with striped cuff detail is just going to be the gift the keeps on giving. £17.99 sizes 18 months – 8 years.
Then I found the silver mac of dreams… I couldn’t not include it! £12-£16 sizes 4-16years.
Bomber- check. Denim – check. Frill- check. Need I say more?!! £17.99 sizes 18moths- 10 years.
Long sleeve love still I found this ombre/black/palm tree print long sleeve swimsuit for girls age 8year-14+ and its £14.99. I may attempt to squeeze in myself!
To say I am jealous of the kid’s swimwear is an understatement! A dusty orange and black spotted print, flounced detail swimming cozzie! Yes please!! £9.99 sizes 18 months-10 years.
A great option of swimming trunk for matching little brothers with the bigger guys, with an aqua tie dye print and coral drawstring it’s a guaranteed hit. £7.99 sizes 18 months – 10 years.
Best foot forward
Eyes on the prize and remembering how to wear clothes that aren’t 99% elastic… we are moving forward. The daffodils are up and easter eggs are in shops, spring is spring and better days are coming!
