I am a writer, presenter, influencer, model and busy mum of 4 children aged between 3 and 15 years. I am married to professional cyclist Mark Cavendish and sport plays a huge role in our mad house. Oh – and we have ducks!
I started my career as a model at the age of 18, a job that afforded many opportunities travelling the world and meeting some amazing people along the way, including my husband who I met by chance in Los Angeles. Whilst modelling, I often debated on women’s issues at universities, including Durham and the Oxford Union and also appeared on News Night.
Radio became a passion with regular presenting roles on TalkSport and Absolute Radio. I revelled in the opportunity to hone a skill that had nothing to do with the way I looked and adored the buzz of live broadcast.
Alongside radio, I began writing a column on cookery for Fabulous daily in The Sun, which I loved as food and cooking is a real passion. As the years passed, my column evolved into pieces about my life and family, documenting our travels, trials and tribulations from teething to the Tour De France. My current role as a Fabulous Ambassador, involves a monthly newspaper spread in The Sun Newspaper and various exciting columns and events. I love having the platform to write about the things I care about most.
I am presenter on the Fabulous Magazine ‘s podcast ‘Things I told my Daughter” and work on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, on the ‘Morning View’ segment discussing current world and news events both serious and more light hearted. I have also appeared on Podcasts for Superdrug, discussing parenting through to puberty and also a guest role on the ‘Lifestyled club’ podcast looking at the other side of family life for a family with a professional athlete.
I am passionate about female health, particularly contraception and advocating on women’s rights concerning physical, mental and emotional health, my inbox is filled with responses from both men and women on this subject and I have hosted live panel events supported by Superdrug. Additionally, parenting a child with additional hearing needs has opened my eyes as a parent to a world I had been blinkered to previously and I share and have conversations around parenting in the hope it will be of benefit to families who might be struggling, hopefully enabling them to feel more empowered as it’s not always an easy path to navigate.
I work very closely with the Help for Heroes charity and have been a patron since 2007. I have taken part in marathons, climbed mountains, wing-walked, sky dived – you name it, I’ve done it and being a part of the Help for Heroes family is one of my proudest achievements.
Over the years I have been many things to multiple people and its only really now that I can look back and see they have all written a chapter in…well…me. I am not ‘just’ a mum, or ‘just’ a wife or even a ‘retired model’. I’m a bit of all of that, but mainly I am sharing my life travelling, parenting, dressing up and chilling out and pretty much putting it all in words and pictures – even having a good old chat with you lot, so don’t be shy and always say hi, everyone is welcome.
